The Facts...

The Arabic alphabet contains 28 letters. In addition to the 28 letters, there are 3 special signs that are written above and below other letters.
Arabic is read from right to left and the letters in words are also read from right to left.
 
 
Each Arabic letter can take a different form depending on whether it's at the beginning, in the middle or at the end of the word just like the capital letters in the English alphabet. In Arabic you also need to learn to recognise more than one form of a letter.

When saying the Arabic alphabet, each letter has a name according to the sound it makes. For example, the first four letters of the Arabic alphabet are alif, baa, taa, thaa. These names are different according to what sound is made.
